Introduction Frenchman Maurice Guillaux (1883-1917) achieved worldwide fame as a pioneering aviator between 1912 and 1917. During that time a number of postcards were issued in association with his various feats in the air, alongside promotion of his activities and that of his sponsors. Guillaux is especially famous in Australia for undertaking the first aerial mail flight from Melbourne to Sydney between 16-18 July 1914, covering a distance of some 930 kilometres or 582 miles.
