The following is a  chronological listing of historical buildings, structures and places within the townships of Harden and Murrumburrah, located in the central west region of New South Wales, Australia. They are listed under the earliest known date of construction, though many have seen additions over the years, especially commercial properties. Undated items are also listed, based on Hilltops Council heritage listings and other sources. No Indigenous items are included within this list. 'LEP' refers to the Hilltops Council Local Environment Plan Heritage Listing 2021.

Chronology

1860

- Traveller's Rest Inn, Neill Street, Murrumburrah.

- T.& G. Barnes Store, Albury Street, Murrumburrah. Subject to numerous extensions. LEP. Website.

- Commercial Hotel / Light Horse Hotel, Albury Street, Murrumburrah. Extended in 1869, 1892 and 1926.


1863

- Four Mill, Albury Street, Murrumburrah. Built on the site of the former Allsopp Flour Mill, 1863, which was destroyed by fire. Rebuilt 1919. Silo Art.

1865 

- Exchange Hotel, Albury Street, Murrumburrah. Extended in 1899. Now a private residence.


1868 

- St. Mary's Catholic church, Our Lady of Mercy Parish, Vernon Street, Murrumburrah. Extended and tower added 1895-6. LEP. Church Histories.

1875 

- Oriental Bank / Commercial Banking Co. office and residence, Albury Street, Murrumburrah.

1876 

- St. Paul's Anglican church, corner of 120 Swift and Iris streets, Murrumburrah. Now a private residence. LEP. Church Histories.


- St. Paul's Rectory, 40 Iris Street, Harden. LEP.

1878 

- Harden railway station, Station Street, Harden. Wikipedia; Stations Past.

- Station Master's residence, Murrumburrah.

1879 

- Murrumburrah Post Office, Albury Street, Murrumburrah. The current facade is a recent addition.

1880 

- Court House, corner of Albury and Vernon Streets, Murrumburrah. LEP.

- Allsopp residence, 220 Neill Street, Murrumburrah (rear of mills), circa 1880s. LEP.

- Wooden cottages x 2, Iris Street, Murrumburrah, adjacent to bridge over Murrimboola Creek.

- Murrumburrah Public School, 116 Burley Griffin Way, Murrumburrah. Closed in 1884. LEP.

1881 

- Rosemore store and stables, corner of 17 Vernon and Neill streets, Murrumburrah. The first brick house in town. Built by John Dillon. LEP.

1883 

- St. Andrew's Presbyterian church, Binalong Street, Murrumburrah. LEP.

- Murrumburrah Primary / Public School, 199 Albury Street, Murrumburrah. LEP.

1884

- St. Mary's Catholic school, Vernon Street, Murrumburrah. LEP.

- Heggarton House, 343 Albury Street, Murrumburrah. 

1890 

- Methodist church, 144 Albury Street, Harden. Now an antiques outlet.

1892

- Sisters of Mercy Catholic convent, Vernon Street, Murrumburrah. Now a private residence. LEP.

1893 

- Municipality of Murrumburrah Council Chambers, 230 Albury Street, Murrumburrah. Now a private residence. LEP.

1895 

- Allsopp's building (shops), Albury Street, Murrumburrah.

1897 

- Police station and lockup, Albury Street, Murrumburrah. Now a private residence.  

1898 

- Bourke & Sons / Monterey Cafe, Albury Street, Murrumburrah.

1902 

- Witchcraft Cottage, corner of Albury and 19 Vernon Streets, Murrumburrah. Built as a residence for local businessman John Bourke and designed by John Barlow of Sydney. LEP.

1909

- Mechanics Institute Public Hall, Neill Street, Harden. LEP.


 1912 

- School of Arts, now Harden Murrumburrah Museum, Albury Street, Murrumburrah. LEP. 

- Shop, Albury Street, Murrumburrah. Now a private residence.

1913

- Beck's building, Albury Street, Murrumburrah.

1914 

- Bank of New South Wales, corner Albury and Bathurst streets, Murrumburrah. Now a private residence.

1915
